Free baby sign classes

I don't know if anyone is interested in baby sign language but I think it is the best thing I could have ever done for me and Tanner. It is amazing. He can say about 35-40 words in sign. He can tell you if he is hungry or thirty, cold, tired or any other thing he might be feeling.

San Diego has tons of free classes for young children and parents.

Tanner and I go to toddler sign on Mondays. (tomorrow we are riding the ferry to seaport village)
Wed. we go to an outdoor class that meets at a new park around San Diego every week. (Fair last week)
Thurs. is an indoor play group where we do some crafts and discussions about various topics.
and Fridays we go to an infant sign class.
These are amazing classes that are totally free. We take field trips to places like Sea World, the Zoo, a small farm,Pumpkin patch, and Birch aquarium just to name a few. We love our teacher Becky. babysignsandiego.com

I just wanted to put this info out there if anyone is interested. It is never too late to start teaching signs and if you are not really in to that just come on out and get together with other moms.

It is summer session right now so there are only a few more classes in the summer but I will try to let everyone know when it starts back up in the fall.

Tanner's First Haircut

I finally took Tanner in for his first haircut. He hated it and screamed the whole time but the lady did such a great job. Here are a few pictures of before and after as well as some that show just how mad he really was. He looks so much older. I guess he my little man now instead of my little baby.

Fun Day at the Zoo

Hello everyone,

David and I took Tanner to the Zoo for the first time the other day and we had a great time. The weather was perfect and it was not very crowded so it was really nice. I didn't take a lot of pictures because Tanner had a fit when I took him out of the stroller and tried to put him back in so he walked along side David and I for most of the day. It was so funny, as we walked up the big hill to go and see the polar bears I could hear Tanner huffing and puffing Oooh! Oooh! with every step. We laughed and stopped for a minute to let him rest but he wanted to keep going so up we went.

Later in the day we were walking along and Tanner found two wonderful leaves on the ground. He carried them for about a mile and then he just plopped down in the middle of the street to rest.

When we finally got him out of the street he walked a good long while smacking a different leaf on everything in his path till he got tired again and sat down on the curb to rest again. That was when we finally decided it was time to go.

We had a lot of fun. Tanner loved the leaves on the ground, the rock walls that he could touch, and the giraffes and monkeys the best.

A lot of people ask me how I am able to find such great deals so here is an example of a really easy one anyone can take advantage of.

There are 2 different scenarios:

Scenario #1

Walgreen's:

Buy (1) glade fragrance collection soy candle for $5.99
Use (1) $4/1 printable coupon
Use (1) $2/1 easysaver coupon pg21

This makes the candle free.

The easySaver books are found in the store right when you walk in.

Scenario #2

Target:

Buy (2) Glade fragrance collection soy candles for $5.79 each (must buy two for this deal)
Use (2) $4/1 printable coupon Press back button to print the coupon twice, if that doesn't work just enter your info again and print it again. You can print 2 from each computer in your home.
Pay $3.58 and get a $5.00 gift card to use on your next visit.
You actually make $1.42 profit.
Do this as many times as you can. Call your friends and have them print coupons for you. That is what I do.

Target has a lot of these gift card with purchase deals each week. Save your gift cards and roll them over on the next deal. It really helps keep the amount of money you pay out of pocket down.

Fun day at Santee Lakes

David and I decided to take Tanner to Santee Lakes today to play in the water park. Tanner was very intimidated at first but finally got right in there and played in the water. We all had a great time and Tanner loved looking at all of the birds and the ducks. He is obsessed with birds right now. It is so adorable. Here are a few photos.

My big surprise

Just want to let everyone know that I am about 10 weeks pregnant. We are very excited. I had my first ultrasound yesterday and I still think it is amazing that I can grow a baby in my belly. It made me cry to see the little one in there flipping around and watching the little heart beat. I will try to keep you updated as I progress through my pregnancy.

Family Fun

We have really been enjoying having David home. It is really nice to not be so stressed about money and have some good quality time together. We have not done a whole lot but here are some cute photos of David and Tanner snuggling on the couch and a few others. Enjoy!

On this last one Tanner came to me and said "Mote" and handed me the remote control for the TV and when I turned it on he went and sat on the couch and covered up with the blanket. He just gets funnier every day.

Get your coupons out.

If you have not signed up for couponmom.com you can do so here. It is free and it does not send you any spam.
On the left click on the grocery deals by state.
Use the drop down box and select California (Southern) - Vons/Pavillions Advertised Deals

This will give you a complete list of all the items on sale at Vons for the week. On the left it tells you if there is a coupon for the item and where you can find it (which Sunday paper it was in). On the right it tells you the coupon amount, the sale price and the final cost. It makes it really easy to find the best deals.

I hope everyone is doing well. We are doing great here. David is still in Tuscon but should be home this Wed. I hope that is true but they seem to change their minds a lot so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Tanner is walking up a storm. He just looks so grown up cruising around the house. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful child. I will try to get some updated photos posted in s few days.

What I never knew about coupons!

I am just having a blast getting so many deals and freebies with coupons and I thought I would share a few things that I never knew about coupons.

There are 2 types of coupons: Manufacturer's coupons and Store coupons. You can use both types of coupons on the same item for a combined savings. Example - You can use a Walgreen's coupon and a coupon out of the Sunday paper on one item. If you have a tube of toothpaste that cost $2.50 and you have a Walgreen's coupon for $1.50 off and you have a manufacturer's coupon for $1.00 off you get the toothpaste for free.
Use multiple like coupons. If the store is having a sale that says buy 5 boxes of cereal for $5.00 you can use 5 coupons and save big. This week Vons was having a sale and they had 5 boxes of cereal on sale for $.99 each when you buy 5. I had five $1.00 off coupons so I got all five boxes of cereal for free. I did not know you could use like coupons in one transaction. I always thought you were limited to one. It is one manufacturer's coupon per item not per transaction.
Target and Walmart take coupons. Not only does Target take coupons but they have online printable store coupons to use with your manufactures coupons.
Buy Multiple copies of the paper. I have found the best way to take advantage of all the great deals out there is to have multiple copies of my coupons. I get the Bulldog early Sunday edition at Walmart on Saturdays for $1.00 and I usually buy 3 copies and I have one copy delivered to my house when I know there are coupons in the paper. a site called becentsable.com has a list of when the paper will have coupons. You can find it here. This is a great site to start finding deals.
You can usually print 2 copies of each coupon you find online. When you find a coupon you like make sure you hit the back button and print it again. Most of the time you can print it twice. if the back button doesn't work just go back into the site and start over. It is worth it.

Well these are a few of the things I didn't know until a few weeks ago. A lot of you probably already know all this but just in case I don't want anyone to miss out.

What a deal

Well today did not go as I had planned it in my head this morning. (I think I dream about coupons and if the stores are really going to let me use them). I could not get the diapers at Walgreen's because Tanner is a little too big for that brand of Diaper but it is a steal for anyone with a baby in Newborn - Size 2 Huggies. Oh Well, then I get to the cash register and the cashier will not let me purchase more then one of each product which is crazy but I didn't make a fuss because that is the closest Walgreen's.

So I called my mom and we headed out to the Walgreen's on Navajo Rd. We went right up and had no problem at all getting all our loot. Yea for Mom. She is a life savor. Then I stopped off at Target and this is what I got today:

(4) 184 count Huggies wipes. Reg Price-$5.99 each/My Price $.99

(1) 64 count Huggies wipes in the plastic container. Reg Price-$3.96 each/My Price Free

(5) Garnier Fructis hair styling products. Reg Price-$2.99 each/My Price Free

(3) Garnier Fructis conditioners Reg Price-$2.99 each/My Price Free, 2 were $.99 oops

(4) Purrell hand sanitizers Reg Price-$.99 each/My Price Free

(2) Glade motion sense and spray Reg Price-$7.99 each/My Price Free

(4) Flavored coffee mate creamers Reg Price-$2.49 each/My Price $2.00

(1) Venus Breeze razor Reg Price-$7.44 each/My Price $2.44

All this together, I spent $13.00, it should have been $11.00 but the first Walgreen's mad me so mad that I forgot to use two of my coupons. Darn! But what a deal.

There are some really great deals at Walgreen's starting tomorrow. They have a special on Huggies Diapers where you can get them Free, Garnier Fructis shampoo and conditioner Free and many more great deals too.

This is a great site that is super easy to understand and tells you where you can find the coupons. i.e. print them online, which Sunday paper they are in or if they are in the Walgreen's EverSavor book and how to use them to maximize your savings.

You could save a ton of money in just a few minutes. Just don't get to Walgreen's before me I don't want them to run out of stock. LOL!

Story time at El Cajon Library

We are off to story time at the El Cajon Library. They do it every Wed morning. 9:45 for Toddler and I believe 10:30 for Preschool age. Since I have my neighbor Sam who is 5 with me during the week we will be going to both. They both really enjoy it. Maybe I will see one of you there one of these weeks. I found out today that David will be in Tucson for about a month. It seems to change on a daily basis but that is where it stands right now. Today I was able to get all 7 of these items for $1.55 at Wal mart. It normally would have been $10.04. There were a lot more good deals but I didn't have last weeks coupons. It was really fun and easy to do and it is all stuff I can use. yea! I love coupons.

This is a really cute video of Tanner and I. Every once in awhile if you tickle his collar bone he will just pass out. It is like he is asleep and then when you let go he goes right back to laughing. It is hard to get on video but we were able to catch the tail end of it. He did it in the grocery store one day and I swear there we 15 people standing around watching him do this. It was great. They were asking "is he faking it." I said no it just feels so good he can't stand it. It was really great. I hope you like the video. You can also see Tanner signing baby at the end of the video because he thinks every camera has pictures of him and he wants to see himself "the baby." I just thought I would point that out. How we are doing

David is off again to Tucson for work. He is rebuilding turbines at a power plant there.The turbines run on coal, natural gas, liquid fuel, and landfill gas.
He will be gone about 2 weeks. I will let you know as I get the information. We sure do miss him. We talk every night on the phone and I recorded a small video of David saying good morning and good night for Tanner to see everyday. It seems to help.

Other then missing David and missing having a pair of extra hands around the house we are doing great. Tanner took his first steps last Thursday night. We were not able to get it on video because it was so dark but we were both there to see it. I was very thankful for that. I will keep trying to get it on video.

Hopefully I can figure out how this blog works and get some photos posted for everyone to see.
